I have taught over 200 technical communicators on the Technical Writing Workshop, which has been the main source of training in Sweden for technical writers in English for the past 25 years.
I have developed customised courses in technical English for students on the Swedish yrkkeshögskolan vocational training programmes. Students give me good references!

The Technical Writing Workshop
Stage 1
- writing technical documentation in English

This course is a unique opportunity for technical writers and engineers to develop their English language skills for writing technical instructions, descriptions of processes and functions, and other types of technical information.
Realistic technical writing tasks during the course and direct feedback from the course leader give the participants real practice in expressing themselves clearly and professionally when writing technical manuals, product information and technical documentation.
The Technical Writing Workshop focuses on:
• the quality of technical information
• English usage in technical documentation
Course structure:
• Workshop presentations on 6 half-days online or 4 full days in the classroom
• Six writing tasks during a 6-week period with individual feedback. This is a central part of the course. Each task takes 3 hours to complete. Every aspect of the “document” is analysed. The participants receive detailed, individual feedback on the quality of the technical information and on the quality of the English language in the text. By the end of the course, each participant has a personal documentation of their writing skills showing every aspect that they need to improve on in the future.
Course contents:
• technical instructions, process descriptions and function descriptions
• grammar structures in technical documentation
• introduction to Simplified Technical English
• writing clear, correct, specific technical English
• correcting the most frequent errors that occur in technical writing
• analysis of figurative language and idioms and metaphors in technical context
• personal tuition during the course
• the course material includes an extensive guide to writing technical documentation and around 15 specific assignments
Course fees
The cost of the course per participant is SEK 22,000 + MOMS. Discounts will be negotiated for groups from the same company.

Each course takes place over 4 full days (in person in the classroom) or 6 half-days (online via Microsoft Teams).
